On November 27, 2024, the stakeholder meeting of the project “Reintegration of War Veterans through Educational Opportunities” took place at the Congress Center of Sumy State University. The event brought together representatives of local government, veteran organizations, educational institutions, and the civil sector to discuss the project’s achievements, prospects for its development, and the current needs of the target audience.
The program of the meeting included a presentation of the key outcomes of the project team’s work. Among the main achievements highlighted were the creation of new educational courses aimed at developing business skills, retraining, and helping veterans and servicewomen acquire new professions. Participants also discussed the results of mentoring support provided to beneficiaries and the successful implementation of projects supported by grant programs.
Special attention was given to ensuring the sustainability of the project’s results. Participants emphasized the need to expand partnerships with businesses, increase funding for professional education programs for veterans, and continue psychological support to facilitate the social integration of beneficiaries.
“This project is an example of how collective efforts from various sectors can create an environment where veterans and their families feel supported, have access to quality education, and new opportunities for development,” noted project coordinator Stanislav Kotenko during the event.
The meeting concluded with a panel discussion, during which stakeholders shared ideas about the next steps in the development of the project and ways to integrate the developed solutions into local strategies.
The project was implemented with the support of DVV International on the basis of the NGO “Lifelong Learning Center” and was aimed at promoting the reintegration of war veterans through education, professional development, and social adaptation.
