The NGO Lifelong Learning Centre is thrilled to announce a significant achievement in its mission to promote education: our organization has participated in promoting the lifelong learning concept, and now Sumy City has become a member of the UNESCO Global Network of Learning Cities (announced on 14th of February, 2024).
This milestone is a testament to our team’s hard work and dedication during these challenging times. Despite the ongoing war, we have managed to accomplish a feat that places us on a global stage, alongside other cities committed to fostering lifelong learning.
Our team includes the representatives of Sumy City Council, Sumy Oblast War Administration, Sumy State University, and our NGO.
The UNESCO Global Network of Learning Cities is an international city alliance that actively promotes lifelong learning within their communities. By joining this network, which now includes over 356 member cities worldwide, Sumy aligns itself with an inspiring and experienced global community. Notably, three other Ukrainian cities – Sumy, Lviv, and Ternopil – also joined the network this year, demonstrating our country’s growing commitment to education.
Our acceptance into the UNESCO Global Network of Learning Cities is not just an achievement for Sumy; it is a beacon of hope and resilience for our community and nation. It demonstrates our unwavering dedication to education, science, and culture, even in the face of adversity.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who contributed to this success. Your support and belief in the power of lifelong learning have helped us reach this incredible milestone.
As we celebrate this achievement, we also look to the future. The Lifelong Learning Centre is committed to continuing its work in education and lifelong learning, contributing to the collective knowledge and experience of the Global Network of Learning Cities, and making a meaningful impact in our community and beyond.
