The NGO Lifelong Learning Centre is pleased to report that Sumy police officers have participated in a psychological training session focusing on the basics of communication in crisis situations that took place on 9th of August 2023. The attendees included detectives, inquiry officers, and psychologists from the Sumy District Police Department, as well as members of the special-purpose police unit of the National Police’s Main Department in the Sumy region.
The training session was conducted by Maria Litvinenko, a trainer-psychologist. The participants, including detectives, inquiry officers, and psychologists from the Sumy District Police Department, as well as members of the special-purpose police unit, were introduced to the concept of active listening, its techniques, and types. They also learned how to effectively present their position to interlocutors and reach agreements during communication.
Moreover, the training helped participants understand the reasons behind negotiations and how to structure them effectively to achieve set goals. Each topic discussed was reinforced through practical exercises, and the session also included a review of the mistakes and successful actions of each participant.
This project was made possible thanks to the financial support of the charitable organization Medair in Ukraine.
